SDI Butler Division
The Butler flat roll mill is capable of producing over 3 million tons of steel annually. While some hot-band coils go directly to customers who provide their own finishing and coating services, a significant amount goes on to our cold mill complex or to other SDI facilities for further processing into value-added products. Our cold-finishing capabilities include pickling, cold rolling, tempering, annealing and galvanizing. The campus also features a state-of-the-art coil-coating line with an annual capability of painting 300,000 tons in gauges from .010 to .062 inches and in widths from 36 to 62 inches.
Located in the Clark Maritime Centre on the banks of the Ohio River, SDI’s 260,000-square-foot facility has an annual capacity to galvanize 300,000 to 350,000 tons of cold rolled steel produced at the Butler facility. The facility specializes in galvanizing thinner gauges, from 0.012 to 0.040 inches, and in widths from 40 to 61 inches. The facility also produces Galvalume®, acrylic-coated Galvalume® and acrylic-coated galvanized, and has the capacity to paint 190,000 tons annually on its state-of-the-art coil-coating line.
